O
I AM AN OVERCOMER BY
THE BLOOD OF THE LAMB
AND
THE WORD OF MY TESTIMONY

REVELATION 12:11

I asked my children, “What have you overcome because of the Lamb of God? Name one event, one thing, one life experience that you have faced to you to which you give glory to God for overcoming.”

Antonette 15:
I overcame—the challenge of MATH! It used to be one of my very least favorite subjects in school. Since I home schooled I was not allowed to pass with grades like 79 or 80. My parents wanted me to redo assignments, redo tests, and even redo an entire course. They felt like I was not “getting it”....which honestly...I wasn’t. I really hated having to redo what I had already done instead of going forward into the next grade. It was hard to accept my parents’ decisions but I knew they just wanted me to master the course.

The second time I took the course I flew through it. I had a greater understanding and its like things were totally new to me. I really got it! I overcame with God’s help.

Today, Math is my favorite subject and I have a new desire for learning. I am an aspiring film maker with a detailed plan to attend a couple of colleges for 4-6 years. My prayer is to work in directing TV, RADIO & FILM with Disney, Miramax Films, Radio Disney, Toon Disney, Disney Channel, Touchstone Pictures, Hollywood Pictures, Walt Disney Pictures, or ABC-TV

I know God has great plans for my future and I am excited about it and ready to face the challenges ahead.

Deonte 13:
I am facing my challenge right now. I have not overcome yet.
I am beginning the 8th grade and have chosen to take on some high school courses during this year. I have planned out the following 4 years of high school and it also looks like it will be challenging as well since I plan to take on some college courses during high school.

I know this will not be easy but I am making it one of my priorities in life--to study. I know this is God’s plan for my life so I know for sure He will guide me and help me all the way. I will overcome these next 5 years of Jr. High and High School because this is His plan for my future.

Anastasia 9:
I used to have a hamster named Theodore. He was so cute and cuddly. He loved me to hand feed him. One day he got sick and I prayed and prayed for him to be healed but he never got healed. I had him for a year and he died on his birthday. I felt so sad the day he died. It was hard to go through that time.

I got six little gold fish for my birthday and they all died the same day. I guess they were sick too.

I started to think that maybe I should not have any more pets because I was afraid they would die. God helped me get over this thought because I know they go to heaven.

I overcame the fear of losing a pet and I got a new pet. His name is Rodney. He is the cutest, fluffiest, sweetest, little guinea pig ever! He is my new friend. I love him so much. He loves to cuddle with me so much. I pray for him everyday. He is my blessing from God.

Joseph 6:
I used to not be able to read fast. It was hard work everyday at school but mommy and God helped me and now I can read any book I want to read. Sometimes I mess up but I keep practicing.

God’s Word says:
Revelation 12:11
11They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony;

1John 4:4
4You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.

1 John 5:3-5

3This is love for God: to obey his commands. And his commands are not burdensome, 4for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. 5Who is it that overcomes the world? Only he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.

John 16:33

33"I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.

Putting the Word into action- James 1:22-24
What have YOU faced in this world that YOU have overcome?
  • Name it, in a prayer of THANKSGIVING to God.
  • Write it down, in your best penmanship, as a thank you letter to God and turn it in to your parents, grandparent, pastor, teacher, or your BFF (best friend forever).
  • Give glory to God by yourself or together with those with whom you shared your testimony.

P
I AM PARTICIPATING IN HIS DIVINE NATURE
2 PETER 1:4

2Peter 1:3-4
His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.

Definitions:
participate – to have a part or share in something.
divine – of, relating to, or proceeding directly from God.
nature – character, or basic constitution of a person

It is possible to have the character or nature of God. God’s word says we can, but it is all up to us to get to know Him.

When we start our day by talking to God in prayer and conversation, we deepen our relationship with Him. When we read His word, we learn what He has already spoken and come to know Him more. We get to know His thoughts, His intensions for our lives, His plans for us, and His heart. When we get quiet and listen to the Holy Spirit we learn to hear what He is saying right now and get to know Him even better. We can constantly fellowship with Him and deepen our relationship together. It is a relationship that will never end so getting to know Him is forever.

If we consciously choose to do what His word says to do and speak what His word says about our life’s circumstances we choose to participate in this divine nature, we choose to reflect divine character and nature in this world around us. If we choose to do this we will have put into action His very great and precious promises that give us everything we need for life and godliness, and will escape the corruption of this world just like His word says.

Before we know it we will increase in faith, goodness, knowledge, self-control, perseverance, godliness, brotherly kindness, and love. Our actions will reflect the actions of God, our character will be just like Jesus who is just like our ABBA Father’s. We will be just like Him in our own unique way.

Make the choice to stand and say, “I AM participating in His divine nature. I AM because the I AM says that I AM.”

God’s Word says:
  • 2 Peter 1:3-4 (The Message Bible)
Everything that goes into a life of pleasing God has been miraculously given to us by getting to know, personally and intimately, the One who invited us to God. The best invitation we ever received! We were also given absolutely terrific promises to pass on to you—your tickets to participation in the life of God after you turned your back on a world corrupted by lust.
  • Mark 1:35
Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed.
  • Psalm 145:13
Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and your dominion endures through all generations. The LORD is faithful to all his promises and loving toward all he has made.
  • 2 Peter 1:5-8
For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; 6and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; 7and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love.
